Cart is the founding CEO of SafeIdea, which builds confidentiality infrastructure for the legal profession's shift to AI. SafeIdea masks sensitive client information locally, so it never leaves the attorney's machine.

Cart has spent his career building the first product in fields that did not yet exist. He co-founded Intelligence at Large, which shipped the earliest multi-point video chat and conferencing products for the internet and built a foundational patent portfolio (licensed to Apple) for real-time online collaboration. He then built iofy, a multimedia platform whose compression technology made downloading audiobooks practical, paired with a navigation system and a mobile hardware player — a complete platform later acquired by Ingram. As founding CTO of SelfStudy, he built an AI-driven learning platform ahead of the current wave of AI adoption, also later acquired.

SafeIdea addresses the question now facing lawyers: how to use AI without losing control of what their clients tell them.

Andreas Richter

Andreas Richter

Andreas “Andy” Richter brings nearly three decades of legal technology experience to the role, anchored by eighteen years as Chief Scientist across LawManager, Elite, Thomson Elite, and Bridgeway, where he owned the technical core of legal software trusted by government agencies and the world's largest corporate legal departments. He contributed to the next-generation architecture that became Elite 3E and led the engineering organization's modernization onto Gerrit, Jenkins, and Git.

A career inventor with eight U.S. patents to his name, Andy has spent forty years arriving early on the platforms that defined their eras. He pioneered internet multimedia conferencing in the 1990s. He architected cloud-native education infrastructure before “cloud-native” was a category. He most recently served as principal engineer on the LUKSO blockchain. At SafeIdea, he's bringing that full range to bear on one of the legal industry's most consequential problems: how to put the power of AI into attorneys' hands without putting client confidentiality at risk.

Robert Pressman is an Advisor to SafeIdea, where he provides legal guidance on the confidentiality obligations that govern legal practice and serves as faculty anchor for the company's CLE program. He brings more than thirty years of intellectual property experience to the role, anchored by his work as cofounder and partner at Bramson & Pressman, a firm focused on patent and technology licensing, monetization, and IP-related transactions across computing, software, wireless, telecommunications, and semiconductors. Before Bramson & Pressman, Rob held positions at a leading wireless technology development and licensing company, a manufacturer of computer equipment and software systems, and a large Philadelphia-based law firm.

A practicing attorney with extensive experience using large language models in IP work, Rob has spent his career on the commercial side of intellectual property. He has built and run patent licensing companies, managed portfolio sales and auctions, supported and managed patent infringement litigation, and handled acquisitions and licensing programs for clients ranging from universities to major technology companies. He brings firsthand familiarity with both the confidentiality obligations that govern legal practice and the experienced judgment needed to catch errors and course-correct when AI tools go off track. At SafeIdea, he brings the perspective of the company's target user: an attorney who wants the full benefit of large language models without putting confidential client information at risk.
